Dr. Jürgen Sorgenfrei
Director Consulting Services, Maritime & Hinterland Logistics, IHS Global Insight
During his professional career as transport economist, project leader, manager of Business Development division of largest German stevedoring company, chairman of a leading European Port Marketing company with divisions in Europe, Asia and the U.S., Dr. Sorgenfrei has conducted and participated in the elaboration of various Port Management and Hinterland Logistics projects. Based on state of the art port industry experience, he gained a vast experience in port management, port strategy and hinterland transportation. His longstanding contacts to key decision makers in shipping industry have stamped his understanding for the requirements of whole maritime industry. For many years her has been the representative of Germany in Tokyo based IAPH International Association of Ports and Harbors. In combination with his well sound knowledge of global port and shipping development, he was always an interlocutor in request. He is used to work with an entrepreneurial attitude and being responsible for the results. Dr. Sorgenfrei is a highly experienced senior expert, specializing in international port management and hinterland logistics.
He held positions as managing director of the R&D-project "ISETEC Innovative Seaport Technology", as Director of stevedoring company HHLA Hamburger Hafen- und Lagerhaus AG, as chairman of global active port marketing and consulting company “Port of Hamburg Marketing” and actually as Director Consulting Services – Maritime and Hinterland Transportation for IHS Global Insight. Dr. Sorgenfrei has visited most of the Top 100 global seaports and is in regular contact with international container shipping industry.
