We look forward to welcoming you to Abu Dhabi

Mr. Tawfeeq Yousof Al MubarakFrom 28-30 March 2011, the city of Abu Dhabi will be hosting the very first World Ports & Trade Summit, an event that has been launched to focus the attention of business professionals involved in the development of ports and associated industries, as Governments look to evolve their development strategies in line with economic management and recovery.

In the 21st century, the global economy is increasingly dependent on efficient sea transport and ports. ADPC (Abu Dhabi Ports Company) is a leader in developing environmentally friendly maritime infrastructure and an active player in port and industrial zone development and management with a key focus on our customers.

There are several new ports along the Abu Dhabi coastline being developed by ADPC to support Abu Dhabi’s rapidly growing economy. Exciting times lie ahead including the commissioning of one of the world’s largest and most modern ports – Khalifa Port – in 2012. Alongside, an industrial zone bigger than many cities in the region will create one of the world’s largest port and trading hubs in the world.

We look forward to supporting the growth of Abu Dhabi and joining with our partners in the realization of the Emirate’s 2030 Vision and we welcome the opportunity to share our plans with you at the World Ports & Trade Summit.

I am proud that the Abu Dhabi Ports Company is involved with the launch of this important international event for our industry and I strongly believe that the Summit will be an exceptional success.

We look forward to welcoming you to Abu Dhabi and to exchanging many ideas with participants in the conference, at the exhibition, at the various social functions, and through technical tours to some of our projects here in the UAE. Our industry faces serious challenges at this time but by putting our heads together at events such as this I am confident we can find solutions to take us forward to brighter horizons.

About the company

Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) is a master developer and regulator of ports and industrial zones. The objective of ADPC is to act as an enabler for development and trade and facilitate its contribution to the diversification of the national economy. In doing so, it will provide its customers and stakeholders with the highest levels of service in a responsive and transparent manner.

ADPC was established in March 2006 by Emiri Decree No. 6 of 2006 in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi as part of the restructuring of the commercial ports sector in the Emirate and was given control and regulatory enforcement power over all commercial ports assets previously owned by the Abu Dhabi Seaports Authority (ADSA).

Subsidiaries and Joint Ventures

ADPC will develop new companies that service and operate in the ports and zones sector. An example of this is Abu Dhabi Terminals, a Joint Venture company between ADPC and Mubadala, which is responsible for port terminal operations in the Emirate.

ADPC aims to create various such entities in order to serve the needs of its customers. These subsidiaries and alliances may span the following range of services and operations: zone operators, port terminal operators, utility operators, real estate developers, education and training operators, logistics operators, value added service operators and several others.

Learn more about Abu Dhabi’s future portKhalifa Port & Industrial Zone

Already home to the world’s largest man-made port (Jebel Ali), the UAE now has grand designs in place for Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD) which it expects when completed will be a best practice example of port development as an enabler for development and as a contributor to economic diversification.

Positioned between the Middle East and Asia and strategically located midway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD) will be a mega-scale industrial zone and multi-purpose port with special zones dedicated to industrial, logistics, commercial, educational and residential facilities. Propelling economic expansion and diversification for the region, this world-class project developed by Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC), will be linked by a national freight and rail line, highway systems and utility distribution networks.

Come and see the development for yourself, understand the commercial opportunities available and meet the people behind the project at the World Ports & Trade Summit.
